BETWEEN THE BEAUTY & CHAOS ABOUT THE ALBUM With the current release of “between the beauty & chaos,” Aaron and bandmates explore the reality of living in a world that contains both beauty and chaos. Released in June of 2009, the new full-length album contains songs centered around God’s faithfulness and beauty, as well as songs dealing with justice, poverty, and adoption. Songs like “Pieces” and “Amos Story” have surfaced through Aaron’s experience with adopting two children from Haiti (Amos and Story). Other songs, such as “Let Your Kingdom Come” and “The Name” have been an extension of the band’s ministry inside the local church. Since late 2008, Aaron has served as one of the worship leaders at The Austin Stone in Austin, Texas. Self-produced and recorded in hometown, Austin, Texas, the process of recording had the same rawness and authenticity as the songs themselves. Joey Benjamin atWire Recording tracked drums, bass, and basic keys and organ tracks, while other guitars were tracked by Kyle Lent at Audio Village. With the help of local musicians, friends, and engineers, the rest of the album was tracked at Ivey’s house over a few months of long days and late nights. One recording session at Ivey’s house included 30 friends singing gang vocals in the living room. Different than previous recordings by Aaron, Jimmie and Bush, “between the beauty & chaos” was tracked in their own space on their own time. The journey of creating music (from songwriting to final mixing) was just as important as the end product itself. With a renewed passion for worship, art, and local church/community, the process of creating this music (from songwriting to final mixing) was significant in the lives of Aaron and bandmates. Aaron and bandmates Jimmie Ingram and Steven Bush have been making music, leading worship, and traveling since 2003.
