jamie and ivey,
I just linked into your website and am a sucker for photos, so I had to peak. What an amazing story your photo suggests . . . and there was not a word said or written. Love the photos. Beautiful! And then I saw your blog on “dating your wife” and had to read it . . .
Interestingly, I had a conversation last night with one of my best girlfriends. (We were actually returning from the Help Haiti benefit concert in Nashville, which was great!) Anyway, she’s single, and I’m a widow. So she was picking my brain about marriage. And she asked, “Why aren’t there more couples who are just ‘gaga’ over each other?” And I think in part it is because couples don’t do just what you are encouraging them to do–continue to date. That can take many forms and fashions, but some how, some way, you’ve got to make time for each other–aside form the children, aside from work, aside from the world. And, you never know when it may be your last date. Thankfully, my late husband (David) and I ‘loved well.’ Not perfectly, but well. So there were no regrets when God called him to Glory. I am so glad we took time for our marriage. It was far shorter than many (11 years), but dare I say richer, much richer than most married twice as long as we were. Isn’t marriage one of life’s greatest blessings? Ivey and Jamie, may God deeply bless your marriage for your commitment to each other. And may He also bless your sweet little–well, not so little, sweet big family! I’m so glad I stumbled across your site.
